CERTIFIED INFANT MASSAGE INSTRUCTOR

Image result for infant massage

Today I completed my 3 day training with Infant Massage Information Service to become a Certified Infant Massage Instructor.

This was an amazing course learning about the benefits of massage for both the parents and the baby. Instruction occurs with the parent copying the moves on their baby that I perform on a doll.  Infant massage can begin immediately post birth. Simple ways to learn how your baby is communicating with you are taught. Settling techniques as well as sequences to help with wind, colic and constipation are also explained and demonstrated. If you are pregnant you can be taught these in advance of the arrival of your baby or you can wait until your little one arrives and book a session. I am so looking forward to sharing this with you all and especially with my first grandbaby due in October 2018.

ONE SIMPLE STRETCH FOR YOUR LOWER BACK

Sunday 16th April 2017

NOPE – this is not what I had in mind when I was planning on sharing a simple back stretch.

Have you tried a simple twist of your upper body?

This is the easiest way to release your back.

You could make this a better stretch by

  1. Lifting a heel off the floor on the opposite side to your twist (turn chest to right hand side and lift left heel off floor, keeping left ball of foot on floor and right foot flatTRY IT: you will find you can twist further as your foot is now not glued to the floor
  2. Taking your arms off your hips.

For those of you who love yoga poses, try this one below.

It’s a lovely twisting lunge pose which will challenge your balance (especially with your eye gaze skyward), engage your core muscles and add some release to a tight back.

Looking forward to seeing you try the pose when you next arrive for your massage.
